Terms

In effect from October 3, 2026

The terms for reading and publishing on CurEight.

The service

CurEight is a place to publish and read curations: issues of six links on one subject, each with a short editorial. These terms are an agreement between you and CurEight. Using CurEight means you accept them.

CurEight is in early access. Features may change, and some may be withdrawn. Where a change affects something you pay for, you will be told before it takes effect.

Your account

You need to be 18 or older to create an account. Keep your sign-in secure, and give accurate details: curators rely on a real email address to reach their subscribers.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings, then Your data. A curator with subscribers needs to close or hand over their curation first.

What you publish

Your editorials, notes and comments remain yours. You give CurEight permission to host, display, email and promote them as part of running the service, for as long as they are on CurEight.

As a curator, you agree that:

  • You chose the links and you stand behind the editorial published under your name.
  • CurEight drafts editorials and summaries with AI. You review each draft before it is published, and what is published is yours.
  • An issue links to other people's work and describes it in your own words. It does not copy the work itself.
  • You disclose any payment or relationship behind a link or a sponsorship.

What is not allowed

  • Content that is illegal, sexually explicit, graphically violent, harassing or hateful.
  • Spam, malware, or links meant to deceive.
  • Impersonating another person or publication.
  • Infringing someone else's copyright or trademark.
  • Importing or emailing people who did not ask to hear from you.
  • Scraping CurEight, or interfering with how it runs.

CurEight is open to everyone, so links, pictures and writing are checked for adult and graphic content before they are published, and a person can review what is held. Anyone can report an issue, a curation or an account. CurEight may remove content or close an account that breaks these terms.

Paid subscriptions

A curator sets the price of a paid curation. Subscriptions renew monthly or yearly until you cancel, and Stripe takes the payment. If a curation offers a free trial, the first charge is made when the trial ends.

You can cancel at any time from Subscriptions. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for, and you are not charged again. Payments already made are not refunded, except where the law requires it.

Getting paid as a curator

To charge for a curation you connect a Stripe account, and Stripe's own terms apply to it. Payments go to that account. CurEight keeps 10% of each payment, and Stripe's processing fee is taken from the remainder. The same applies to tips and sponsorships.

You decide whether to accept a sponsorship. A sponsorship you decline is refunded to the sponsor in full. You are responsible for your own taxes, and for delivering what your subscribers paid for.

Links to other sites

Issues link to sites CurEight does not run. Some of those links need a subscription to the publication. CurEight is not responsible for what those sites publish or charge.

Copyright complaints

If something on CurEight infringes your copyright, report it from the page it is on, or use Send feedback, in the sidebar of the app, with the address of the page and of your original work. CurEight removes infringing material and closes the accounts of people who infringe repeatedly.

Warranty and liability

CurEight is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, CurEight makes no warranty that the service will be uninterrupted or free of errors, and is not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Its total liability to you is limited to what you paid CurEight in the twelve months before the claim, or $100 if that is more.

Ending and changing these terms

You can stop using CurEight at any time. CurEight can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. If CurEight closes, curators will be able to download their subscriber list and every issue first.

When these terms change in a way that matters, CurEight will say so by email or on the site before the change takes effect.
